Winemaking: Organic Xarel Lo grapes were hand harvested before fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks. The wine was bottled before fermentation in order to create fizz inside the bottle (Pet Nat - Ancestral winemaking technique). No filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Sparkling white wine (pet nat) which a rich and structured character. Complex and precise with apple, citrus and white flower aromas. Could work with food or by itself. A serious Pet Nat.
Notes on the Winemaker: Partida Creus is the project of Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa, Italians who were working in Barcelona before moving to the remote village of Bonastre in search of a quieter life surrounded by nature. Here they began producing wine from old, almost extinct Catalan grape varieties such as Sumoll and uncovered ancient winemaking techniques by speaking to old winemakers in the area.
