Winemaking: Organic Zibibbo grapes from a single vineyard were hand harvested. 3 days skin contact and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in glass demi-john. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Previously known as 'Grey Label', this wine comes from a single plot of Zibibbo vines planted in 1970 at 150m altitude on shallow Soki Soki (pomice) soil over a lava bedrock. Fresh skin contact wine thanks to integrated volatile acidity. Expect stone fruit, citrus, dried herbs, subtle smoke and more. A very special expression of Zibibbo. Only 132 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: Tanca Nica is the natural wine project of Francesco Ferreri & Nicoletta Pecorelli who farm just 3 hectares of vines the small and remote island of Pantelleria. Located off the coast of Tunisia, the island is party of Italy and boasts Sicilian cultural traditions. The wines from Tanca Nica are wild but precise and complex, displaying all the signs of sun baked land and Mediterranean influence.
