New Arrivals from Burgundy

New Arrivals from Burgundy

We have been thrilled to receive a whole host of wines from Burgundy in recent weeks including the renowned Clos des Vignes du Maynes. Monks grew grapes on this land in the Mâconnaise since the year 910 and it has never been treated with synthetic chemicals. Now Julien Guillot produces vibrant and pure wines that have become highly sought after in recent years, particularly the red and white blend, Cuvée 910. We also have two whites, Mâcon-Cruzille Au Quin Château 2023 and the prized Mâcon-Cruzzile Aragonite Blanc 2022. Les Crays Bourgogne Rouge 2022 is made from 100% Pinot Noir grown on chalky soils whilst Megamix Vol.2, as the name suggests, is an experimental cuvée that combines Muscat, Gamay and Pinot Noir!

Further north in the commune of Vézelay lies Domaine de la Cadette. We have been selling these wines for a few years now and again, really appreciate the immaculate fruit and the precise winemaking. We have received a restock of the excellent value Melon 2022 made from the grape variety that actually originated in Burgundy but is now more associated with the Muscadet region in the wets of France. We also have Vézelay Blanc Galerne 2023 now available, 100% Chardonnay from this relatively new appellation (established in 2011). Clean and mineral with a nice complexity of floral, citrus and almond notes.

Pretty much everything mentioned here is low on the wild scale but far from boring. The purity of fruit in these wines, uninterrupted by oak flavours, is something to be experienced!

Happy Drinking!
