Wine Club 37 Winners
I had a lot of fun at the 38th round of Highbury Library Wine Club and I hope everyone else did too. I thought all the wines were showing really well and as usual, each night provided a different winning bottle...

On night one, the light but beautifully intense and concentrated Cinsault from l'Absurd Genié des Fleurs in the Languedoc took the top spot. Dark fruit with fresh minerals and a pronounced note of violets, this was really shining. I highly recommend you grab a bottle of Linia Ondulata 2024 right now to understand what all the fuss is about.
On night two, a new arrival from Fadesfa stole the show. SB 2024 is a Sauvignon Blanc made with a few days of maceration so sits somewhere on the white to orange spectrum. Bright acidity but with a lovely texture to provide some roundness, this is a wine of great balance and precision. We love winemaker Alberto Buratti for always trying to push the boundaries and do something different which is exactly what he has achieved with this cuvée.
We had a double header from our good friend Francesco Pozzobon at Tenuta Foresto. His juicy, aromatic and unique expression of the rare Piedmontese red variety Brachetto went down very well as did his Pet Nat that he made exclusively for Highbury Library to help us celebrate our 10th birthday. Brachetto 2023 and Team Moscato 2022/2024 respectively.
It was generally agreed that Flor de Maeve 2024 was the easiest and freshest wine of the night. Clocking in under 10% alcohol, this new skin contact Xarel Lo from Lucy Chilvers in Catalunya is full of minerals but also shows a somewhat surprising aromatic side.
Another easy-drinking, aperitif style wine came at the beginning of the night from Cascina val Liberata. Nebula 2022 is a very light expression of Nebbiolo made with just 24 hours of maceration. Whether you consider it a dark rosé or a light red, it proved to be a crowd pleaser and the phrase "session wine" was definitely mentioned more than once.
We meet again next week for a special night with La Ferme des Sept Lunes which has already sold out. But fear not, March dates will be announced just after so stay tuned.
Until then, happy drinking!
