Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes were sourced from growers in and around Morgon, Beaujolais. Semi-carbonic maceration in stainless steel and fermentation with indigenous yeast. No fining, filtration and just a touch of added sulphur on bottling
This Wine: The iconic easy drinking Beaujolais from natural wine godfather Marcel Lapierre and his family. He apparently once proclaimed that this was wine to drink in the shower and we're not going to argue with that. Light bodied, juicy, red fruit. Great chilled too.
Notes on the Winemaker: Marcel Lapierre took over his family winery in 1973 and became a pioneer of the natural wine scene by eschewing the use of sulphur in the early 80s. He sadly passed away in 2010 but left the winery in Morgon, Beaujolais in good hands. His son and daughter Mathieu and Camille Lapierre now take care of things and continue to promote his values and philosophy.
