5 White Wines to Drink this Christmas

Here are five of our top white wine picks to drink this Christmas. We've included some special, pricier bottles alongside two more affordable options. Hopefully something for everyone...

Le Vandangeur Masqué 2020 - Alice & Olivier De Moor

Let's start with a rare opportunity to drink an older wine from natural wine icons Alice and Olivier de Moor. Made with Chardonnay grapes from organic growers around Burgundy, this is full bodied and complex but still retains freshness. Citrus and floral, this pairs very well with white meat or vegetable dishes.

Rosalia 2024 - Constantina Sotelo

To Galicia now in north west Spain, the home of the Albariño grape. Rosalia is usually Constantina Sotelo's entry level wine but a difficult vintage in 2024 meant that she only made this cuvée. All the highest quality grapes usually reserved for other wines are therefore now included in this bottle. Rich and savoury with an unmistakably maritime, salty character, this is the perfect accompaniment to any seafood your are planning to enjoy this Christmas.

En Vrac - Domaine Bohn

Another steal here with Domaine Bohn's blend of Riesling and Sylvaner. I don't think we have any other wines with this much class and finesse at this price point. It's intended to be the winery's easiest drinking cuvée but by accident or design it offers loads of complexity and wonderful balance. Not wild at all but so much character that will keep natural wine lovers excited whilst also being totally approachable to conventional drinkers.

Romorantin 2022 - Les Cailloux du Paradis

Ok now for something really special! The Courtois family are very much "if you know, you know" status in the world of natural wine. They quietly produce some of the most age-worthy and sought after cuvées in the Loire valley and champion rare indigenous grape varieties such as Romorantin and Menu Pineau. This is obviously made with the former and creates a rich and round white wine with balancing acidity. An interesting and unexpected note of blackcurrant leaf makes this is a unique drinking experience that won't be forgotten quickly.

Pouilly Fuissé - Maison Valette

Finishing where we started back in Bourgogne for a real showstopper. Maison Valette produce some of the best white Burgundies we have ever had the pleasure of drinking. It feels like every element in this wine is dialled up to 11. Powerful but beautifully balanced, this deserves a rich dish of food to be served alongside. Made with top quality grapes across different vintages in one of the region's most renowned villages.

Writing this has got me quite excited for the meals to come

Happy drinking!
