Bargain Bottles Part 2
After receiving some more brilliant wines that all retail for £23 or under, we felt it was only right for a another quick update. Here we go...
C'JUSTE 2022
An absolute steal from Le Vent des Jour, a no-nonsense winery down in Cahors, southern France. This is a white blend of local varieties Gros Manseng and Ugni Blanc that offers roundness and complexity with tropical fruit and mineral flavours. Great for the change of temperature that we are currently experiencing!
T'AS POUSSÉ LE BOUCHON TROP LOIN 2022
We have been huge fans of this cuvée with the catchy name from Domaine du Petite Oratoire for many vintages. Now with a few years in bottle, this is tasting even better and is currently pouring by the glass at Highbury Library. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault grapes, this is a medium bodied red that punches well above its price point.
VATER & SOHN
Now to Germany for a wine from 2Naturkinder. Vater & Sohn pays homage to winemaker Michael's dad who he learnt his skills alongside. A blend of different vintages, this is made up of Müller Thurgau, Riesling and Silvaner grapes. An easy drinking white wine but by no means boring.
UN JOUR OU L'AUTRE 2023
Another excellent wine from the aforementioned Le Vent des Jour. This is a medium bodied red made from Malbec with dark fruit notes but really fresh acidity. Tannins are really soft and easy but it suits this season perfectly. A real crowd please for both natural wine lovers and more conventional drinkers.
MARQUESA 2024
We have already written about why we think this should be your go-to orange wine this Autumn but just in cased you missed it, this should be your go-to orange wine this Autumn. Picpoll from Catalunya with 4 weeks of skin contact. A pulpy, textured cuvée that is going down a storm by the glass in the bar at the moment.
Five more wines to prove that you don't need to break the bank to drink well.
